Should you gift on Valentines Day
Valentine’s Day is almost upon us and nearly every couple is thinking about what to gift to their loved ones. However, I often wonder about a rather basic aspect of this day, i.e. is giving a gift really necessary? Yes, I realize that most people are going to say a big “Yes” to this question but stop for a moment and try to understand my perspective.
Gifting Just For The Sake Of It
For starters, gifting something on Valentine’s Day is becoming more of a norm. When going to a Birthday Party, people are expected to carry gifts. Similarly, it is now a kind of an unsaid rule that you have to give a Valentine’s Day gift. To a certain extent, this challenges the very definition of being in love. I mean, love is supposed to be spontaneous and unconditional. You should be gifting your loved one whenever you feel like it rather than waiting for an appointed day.
Seems Like Just Another Commercialized Celebration
Secondly, Valentine’s Day is becoming increasingly commercialized. A large section of Valentine’s gifts seem to have the same tone every year.
